`what's your story?;;
History: Elisme had always wanted to have a large family, but complications with her first son, Edward, left her incapable of bringing another child to term. A socalite, she had married into the exceptionally wealthy DeWitt family through their only heir, Andrew. And for the first time since they had wed, it was a problem that money proved unequal to solving. But it was never said that she wasn't a headstrong woman, and when it was finally decided that the miscarriages were becoming too draining, she convinced her husband to adopt.
Bailey's biological mother had given him up for adoption at birth, and he was swept out of the care of the state by the time he was a month old. As far as anyone can remember, he had always been a remarkably pretty child, sitting at the end of his mother's bed while Elisme did her makeup, while his elder brother was outside running around with other boys their age. And perhaps things would have turned out differently if his parents had noticed the signs earlier- but the fact was that they thought it was all a phase. Bailey was such a sweet child that they found in hard to deny him anything.
When Bailey started middle school at ten, the differences between himself and his peers became even more pronouced. Sheltered for most of his adolescence, he never thought to question why all of his friends were girls, or that it wasn't precisely normal for him to be attracted to men as they were. Beauty was beauty, and what did it matter if it came with the label Male or Female? An attitude that stretched into other aspects of his life; because weren't women's clothing so much prettier then mens?
He played the guitar, and sang, and kept up his perfect grades- and his parents, being naive, chose once more to turn a blind eye to their youngest's peculiarities. But such a state can't go on forever, and by the time he started high school three years later, people had seriously started looking at him askance. High school was a harsh lesson in the cruelty of humanity, and it was at that point that Andrew, his elder brother by to years, swept in to save the day.
Overprotective in a way usually reserved for younger sisters, Andrew nearly got himself expelled from school for fighting. Nobody was allowed to touch Bailey, nobody was allowed to call him names. Doing so would result in a broken nose from Andrew, and complete ostracism from the rest of the school (curtosy of the still unconsciously charming young man's ever growing circle of friends.) That isn't to say they didn't try.
By the time he graduated, Bailey had suffered numerous injuries, some of them serious. But through it all he kept smiling, and it made him even more determined not to bow down to the spectre of overwhelming peer pressure to join the masses. He was his own person, and he would damn well act like it.
Months before his graduation, Bailey's parent's were killed on their way back from the theater. The accident was tragic and unexpected, and Andrew, for the first time, was the weaker of the pair. It was a strange gift that Bailey wasn't the type to be awkward around grief, jumping in both feet first and doing everything in his power to take care of whoever needed help.
Shortly after, Bailey made the decision to track down his biological parents- managing to find them, and the younger sister he never knew existed. They were embarrased by him, the spot in their histories come back to haunt them. But he did have the chance to meet them once before they to passed on- leaving him with a lot of tough decisions.
It may seem strange that someone with his gentle temperment would choose to study Law, but the order and the chance to do some good in the world were too tempting to pass up. Initially it had been medicine, but after consideration he realized that he wouldn't be able to handle the blood and the death in the long term. And so he enrolled in Cordova, hoping for the chance to meet the sister he had never known.
A lot of people have started to question if Bailey was possibly a woman born into a man's body- indeed, even his own brother has sat him down and asked if he was considering sexual reassignment surgery. His usual response is that this is the only body he's known, and while he would prefer to look more like a woman, he has no intention of going under the knife anytime soon.
